November 11th is “Veterans Day” in the United States America. This day is set aside to remember those who served or are currently serving in the military. The date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the end of hostilities in Europe during World War I. The day is shared internationally with European nations, where it is called “Armistice Day” in France, New Zealand, and Belgium and “Remembrance Day” in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
While today we take time to remember those who put their lives on the line to keep our nation safe and to defend freedom abroad, we should practice this act throughout the year. So few nations are so willing to sacrifice themselves for others like the United States, and a lot of that comes from the character of her citizens. Though our nature of caring for our neighbors, the amount our citizens provide to charities both foreign and domestic outpace all others, while our volunteer military remains fully manned, even during times of war.
As such, the U.S. Common Sense web site will begin highlighting various charities which provide aid and comfort to the families and service members of our military, our Veterans, and all those in need. We are proud to bring these groups to your attention.
We would like to thank all of our Veterans and their families for their service to our country, and we pray that all of our active duty members protected while in harms way. Our nation is with you.
