A mental break

With all the “transition” work that is going on, I am taking a mental break for a few days to recharge my batteries following the elections. The following is a list of some things I’m doing to refresh:

1) Finishing my novel. There are some people out there who know that I am writing a mini-novel. This is my first attempt at “serious” writing and I am beginning to understand how complicated it can be. Fortunately, I haven’t suffered from “writers block,” but I am suffering from “writers attention.” I have about one or two chapters left to write, and process of pulling all the strings together to close out the story has started to feel like work rather than enjoyment. The election was a practical excuse for me to put the project aside, but I can’t use that as an excuse any longer.

2) Travel/Entertainment. This past weekend, I drove to Norfolk, VA to meet up with some friends and see the stage performance of “Spamalot.” For those of you who don’t know the show, it is a stage version of the famous movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” I found the production to be very well done and very funny as well. They even worked in a political joke regarding Barack Obama’s task of naming the new family dog.

3) PIRATES! No, I’m not operating off the coast of Somalia. I recently bought “Pirates of the Burning Sea,” and it wasn’t until after I installed the product and used the product key did I learn it was an online-only game. This is highly annoying since I don’t have the best internet connection. However, it came with one month of free game play, so I am maximizing my time to see if I want to continue to use the game or put it aside for something better.

I have other items going on at the moment, but those are the big three. Fear not. I’m also working on an article regarding why the US Government should not bail out the automakers at the moment. The article should be posted by Wednesday.

We’re all busy and it’s easy to drop off the radar, especially on the internet. I hope you don’t stay gone too long.

  2. Fear not, David. I am here and going strong. :) Just needed to give the old brain cells a rest after a long election cycle. Thanks for checking in on me. :)
