Blogging for Scholarships?

I was surfing the net tonight and I came across one of the more interesting college scholarships.  College Scholarships.org has offered a scholarship for the past two years to college students who maintain political blogs.  The requirements are:

• Your blog must contain unique and interesting information about political issues, current events, opinions, etc. No spam bloggers please!!!
• U.S. citizen;
• 3.0 GPA;
• Currently attending full-time in post-secondary education; and
• If you win, you must be willing to allow us to list your name and blog on this page. We want to be able to say we knew you before you became a well educated, rich, and famous blogging legend.

As one who use to work in the post-secondary field for many years, I know the value of a scholarship.  Many students tend to shy away from small scholarships because they feel that they won’t make a large impact in their financial burdens, don’t want to do the additional work required to win the scholarship, or feel that they won’t win the scholarship before trying, and therefore it isn’t worth their time.  In this case, I don’t think any of that applies.  If you are already running a political blog, all you have to do is submit your website for their review and meet the minimum requirements above. 

And don’t worry all you bloggers out there who don’t run a political blog.  There is a general blogging scholarship for you as well!
