It is my pleasure. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for including my rant on the folly of the mortgage bailout. Why isn’t there more outrage over this thing???
Len
As a person who is looking for a new home at the moment, I am enjoying how the housing prices are finally coming down from their artificial highs. However, I also feel sorry for those who bought a house a year or two ago when the prices were peaking, or those who refinanced to take money out of their homes during that time period. It is probably that sense of loss that people are looking forward to the mortgage bailout. I agree that injecting government funding into a housing market that is correcting will only prolong the pain, as market forces will finally give way.
That is why I think my proposal last year of just refinancing the ARM’s and converting them into a fixed rate loan would have been the best solution (regarding government interaction). The prices of the homes wouldn’t change, yet there would be less people facing a sudden spike in their monthly payments which they would not be able to afford. Unfortunately, Bush never got that done, and more and more people have suffered as a result. But their loss is my potential gain, for housing investments is the same as any other investment: buy low, sell high.
Will there be more outrage? There might be once the general public understands what is involved and how much it might cost them in the future.
