Notice: Upcoming meet-and-greet with Bob McDonnell

Hey folks,

I have a chance to attend a meet-and-greet with Virginia Governor candidate Bob McDonnell this weekend and I was wondering if any of you have a question or questions that you would like me to ask. While I’m not sure if there will be a formal question and answer period, I am preparing as if there is one. I may take my laptop with me as well, so there is a chance I can blog from the event as well (assuming there is Wi-Fi access).

Thanks for providing that link to his website. And – congrats for having the opportunity to meet him. After browsing his website and reading his position on the issues – I only have one – seeing as this isn't anywhere in his issues. Healthcare! What is his position on the Obamacare plan? Here in Florida our State Legislature is putting together a bill that would give Florida sovereignty and the ability to state we won't implement any of a federally mandated health plan. Is he for government sponsored health insurance? Would he support legislation in Virginia similar to that of Florida's if government option health insurance passed? What is his solution to health care reform? I know – that's more than one question. But – I figure you get the gist and can put it in your own words.

  2. I was thinking about asking him on the 10th Amendment wave going on across a majority of the country at the moment, and I think the Health Care proposal by the Democrats fits into that category. The Governors association issued a statement a few weeks ago about how the current proposals put too large of an economic strain on the state level. I'll see how I can link the two together into a simple question.

That's essentially the basis for our state putting it together. We're trying to find away to assert our 10th amendment rights as well…just looking for the right issue. If the states are going to be forced to bare the brunt of these costs – they have every right to tell the feds to go stick it.
