I’ve been working on a project in the background for my fellow Entrecard members and our fellow political bloggers.
If you were following this site four years ago, you may remember a few posts I wrote regarding Entrecard; an online “business card” service that allows you to “drop” your card on fellow members’ websites to let them know you came by to visit. It is a free and easy way to increase the web traffic to your site as well as build relationships with other bloggers.
I was using the service up till two years ago when the websites’ database crashed, and I chose not to reinstalled the widget once the site was recovered and the new theme implemented. However, you might have noticed in the lower right-hand corner that the widget has reappeared this month. I have rejoined the active members not only to increase my web traffic and exposure, but because I want to use the service to grow the political blogging community.
The long-standing purpose of the U.S. Common Sense website is to bring together people with differing opinions to discuss the issues facing our nation in a way to not only better understand the issues themselves, but to understand the different views held about them. To further this purpose, I am creating a service (powered by Entrecard) to connect both active Entrecard members and readers of this site together. I’m calling it (simply enough) “Entrecard Politics“.
When you visit the Entrecard Politics page, you will find that I have sorted all of the Entrecard members registered under the politics category by active (posted within the past three months) and inactive, as well as US politics and international. For readers, you can easily navigate to the active blogs by clicking directly on the link (blog roll). For Entrecard droppers, there is a series of quick-drop links that will open up five tabs per grouping to websites that have been verified (monthly) to be showing the Entrecard widget.
I am still adjusting the presentation of the service, but it is currently up and running and ready for your use. So take a moment to check it out and give it a try. If you find any errors or have recommendations, please let me know and I will do my best to make corrections and changes quickly.
Thanks, and happy reading!

It’s nice to see someone doing something with Entrecard, since the site’s owners have all but abandoned it. As a long time member, and once a very active member, it saddens me every time I visit the site and see so much potential sitting dormant.
While politics interest me and I occasionally post something that is going on, I don’t have a “political blog”. But good luck with what you are trying to do with this, like I said it’s nice to see the users trying to put EC to productive and fun use.
Thanks Tony.
You are right … it is/was a great concept. Even the owners of Entrecard seem to have stopped developing their own site (so sad). “Hopefully” we can generate more interest in the service.
I’ll add your site to my RSS, and maybe I can link to one of your relevant articles over time. Keep up the great work over there!
