It seems only appropriate that the first discussion of the U.S. Common Sense blog be the next Presidential election.  Though we are two years away from the election, we already have a number of declared players in the field, as well as a few undeclared persons waiting on the sideline.  Below is the list of the current candidates and their election web sites.

Republicans:

Democrats:

Libertarian:

Third Parties/Independents:

With two years to go, 45 67 men and women have already taken the step forward and expressed their interest in leading our nation.  It isn’t often that there is an open election in our nation with no incumbent in the race.  President Bush is completing his second term and Vice President Cheney has stated numerous times that he would not seek the nomination.  The last time our nation has experienced such an open race was the 1952 election between Dwight Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson (neither Harry Truman nor Alben Barkley were nominated).

As the election cycle progresses, we will discuss each candidate and detail their key positions.  We will create a new thread for each candidate soon to make the discussions easier to track and manage.  If you are aware of any candidates not listed above, please add their name below.  Just as every candidate has the right to express themselves in the campaigns, we have the right to discuss their views.  Additionally, if any of the men and women listed above happen to come across our site, please let yourself be known so we may learn more about your views and platform.
