Barack Obama and Wayne Allyn Root used to have one thing in common, both graduated from the same college class, Class of ‘83 Columbia University; after Root’s announcement they share a second commonality, they are both running for the 2008 Presidential election.
Wayne Allyn Root will announce he is entering the race for President of the United States on Fox 5 News on Friday morning in the 7 AM PST news hour.
Root also appears on KABC Radio in Los Angeles on the Al Rantel show on Friday morning to discuss his Presidential campaign. An article on Root’s Libertarian candidacy is also appearing on newsstands this week in Worth magazine.
Widely considered the frontrunner for the Libertarian Presidential nomination, Wayne Root is a resident of Henderson, Nevada- and a strong supporter of Nevada’s brand of Libertarian politics.
He is a anti-tax, limited government, pro states’ rights, anti-Nanny State, socially tolerant, anti-Yucca Mountain Libertarian conservative in the mold of Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater.
Root has come up with the novel idea of being the first candidate to ever run his entire campaign on reality television. He is partnering with Burt Dubrow Productions to create the reality show.
Dubrow discovered, created and produced both Jerry Springer and Sally Jessy Raphael, two of the longest running shows in American television history. The reality show will be titled, “ROOT for AMERICA!” Root is also authoring his new book, “The Conscience of a Libertarian.”
It is modeled after the conservative best-seller by Barry Goldwater, “The Conscience of a Conservative.”
The gaming world is buzzing about Root’s candidacy. Greg “Fossilman” Raymer (winner of 2004 World Series of Poker) and Mike “The Mouth” Matusow- two of highest profile poker players in world- will be conducting interviews with reality television producers at Root’s Anthem Country Club home in Henderson, Nevada.
Raymer has indicated strong interest in running as Root’s Libertarian Vice Presidential candidate. Also attending the event at Root’s home will be the editor of Card Player magazine Bob Pajich.
Ladbrokes of U.K., the world’s largest legal odds maker and sports book, has posted odds on a Root Presidency- the first time a Libertarian has been included in United States Presidential odds.
Ladbrokes has made Root the favorite for the Libertarian nomination, and a prohibitive favorite to attract more votes than any Libertarian Presidential candidate in history.
The most unique angle for the national media is that for what has to be the first time in the history of American Presidential politics, the 2008 election will feature two candidates that graduated from the same college class- Barack Obama and Root both graduated Class of ‘83 Columbia University.
Root provides a stark contrast to his college classmate Obama who is a lawyer/activist/college professor who believes in bigger government, higher taxes, more entitlements. You could not imagine two more opposite candidates- yet they are products of the same college class.
Add in Root’s unique pedigree and you have a mainstream media magnet- Root is a dynamic, charismatic, telegenic, colorful, outspoken, Libertarian, limited government, anti-tax, states’ rights, Barry Goldwater-loving, S.O.B. (Son of a Butcher) Las Vegas odds maker.
Wayne Allyn Root starts with millions of fans and followers in the poker and gambling world who support his message of liberty, freedom, social tolerance and ending the Nanny State. This is perhaps the largest base of voters and contributors to start with of any third party candidate ever.
