Our third volunteer for a website review comes from our friends over at “The Right Wing.” As with many of the initial websites we review on here, this site brings us a new first.
The Right Wing is a conservative website using a magazine-style format. Similar to websites managed by larger publications, such as CNN or FOX, the website is broken down with the latest articles scrolling in the main body of the site, with smaller sections broken out by categories displaying their most recent article. And like the larger sites, The Right Wing has more than one author.
John Kaduk and Matthew Kowal joined forces at the beginning of 2008 to cover the issues facing the nation as well as current events. Branding themselves as “conservatives in the truest form,” their first article (penned by Kaduk) defined what conservatism means to them. Lower taxes, less regulation, a strong military, and more are the core platforms of conservatism that are described and are evident in many of their posts.
While they might be harsh on the focus of their article, they do layout their case and cite sources to back-up their position. However, they are fair to those that disagree with them, especially if they cite references to disprove their arguments (as suggested in their initial post). A decent example of this is their article from October 16th entitled “Obama’s Membership In The Socialist ‘New Party.’” Framing their argument around five different references, they make the case how Obama and the New Party are connected. In addition to source articles, the authors use comics and videos as points of discussion in many of their other posts.
The site is updated a few times a week with original content. Also, there are new polls a few times during the month, located at the bottom of the page. Reading through many of the articles, I did not see any foul language nor content inappropriate for young viewers. If you are interested in a purely conservative point of view, I recommend you spend a few moments reading the works of Kaduk and Kowal and join in with the discussions.

Thanks for volunteering. Keep up the good work over there, and may your second year be as good as the first!

Great review. I follow his site as well. A great read for all conservatives.

Thanks BoBo. I do enjoy many of their articles. One of the things I do when I go to review a site is sit and read as many of the articles as practical, to get a sense of the tone and logic. In the process, I come across of a lot of things that I haven’t considered in the past.
Additionally, I have been toying with the notion of reviving my “newsletter.” In the past, I tried putting out a monthly newsletter with the links to the articles I thought were interesting over the past few weeks, grouped by similar topics. I stopped since it was kinda redundant since the website already had an archive section that did much of the same thing. But now, with the Blog Listing, I’m wondering if I should revive the process, but to include key articles from all the blogs that I have reviewed as well … basically turning it into a monthly/quarter “newspaper.” What do you guys think about that?

I like the idea, I was thinking about something similar the other day as well along the lines of interesting articles and news items. I always come across interesting stories and topics I don’t think get enough attention. I’ve always enjoyed the idea of things similar to Drudge where you just point to other stories that you think are important.

Let me scribble some thoughts down and I’ll float it past you and BoBo. Might be able to come up with something where we can pool articles together.

Come up with any good ideas?

Well, I had an idea of making a separate page so people can log in and add links, but the only way I could do that is if I sent up new accounts for people as Editors, which would give people too much access to the content on the website. I set up an e-mail account specifically for contributions, or I might check out BoBo’s “Carnial” thing and see if that might be a useful tool. In my mind, I’m thinking of a page where I list:
