It’s official: Obama is now the President-elect
We tend to use the term President-elect to identify the winner of the Presidential elections until they are sworn into office, and we are technically wrong. The winner of the November elections does not become the President-elect until after the Electoral College convenes and casts their votes. Today, it is official. Barack Obama is now the President-elect. In a joint session of Congress, Obama won 365 votes compared to John McCain’s 173 votes.
Obama will be sworn into office in 12 days. From that point on, he will be known to everyone as President Obama for at least the next 4 years.
Congratulations President-elect Obama.
